Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between RS20, RS30 and RS50?

The RS20, RS30, and RS50 are three different models of in-ear monitors offered by RevoStage. While all three models deliver great sound quality and value, there are some differences in their performance.

The RS20 is designed to offer an affordable option for musicians who want a satisfying bass response. It’s particularly suited for drummers and bass guitarists who are looking for a great value.

The RS30 delivers exceptional sound performance and is particularly suited for open-sounding instruments like guitars and keyboards. It offers unbeatable value for mid to long-term use and won’t need upgrading for years to come.

The RS50 is the top-of-the-line in-ear monitor and delivers audiophile-level sound performance. It’s perfect for musicians who demand the best and want to pick up on every nuance and detail, whether they’re playing an open-sounding keyboard or a bass-heavy instrument like a drum or bass guitar.

For more information about the custom in-ear monitor systems and detailed specifications of each model, please visit our “Custom IEMs” page.

I've never worn custom in-ear monitors, what can I expect?

Custom in-ear monitors are designed to fit the shape of your ear for maximum comfort and sound quality. When wearing custom in-ear monitors for the first time, it may take a little while for your ears to get used to them. Some discomfort or pain may occur initially, but if you do not feel any sharp pain, you should give your ears a little time to adjust to the fit. You will eventually forget that you have them in your ears.

However, if the discomfort or pain persists, please reach out to our support team at [email protected] for further assistance. We will work with you to troubleshoot and adjust your custom in-ear monitors accordingly.

How can I get ear impressions for IEMs and what is the process for submitting them?

You can get your ear impressions taken by a licensed audiologist or hearing healthcare professional. For detailed instructions on how to order and ship your ear impressions to us, as well as information on the entire custom IEM process, please visit our “How to Order” page.

How long does it take to build custom in-ear monitors?

The estimated build time for our products varies depending on the model and the number of orders in our queue. You can check the estimated build time for your specific model on the product page of our website.

Typically, it takes around one month from the time we receive and approve your ear impressions for us to complete the build process. However, during busy periods, the build time may be extended. If this is the case, we will notify you of the new estimated delivery time via email.

If you have any further questions about our build and delivery process, please visit our “How to Order” page.

What is the role of an Audiologist?

An Audiologist is a specialist who diagnoses and treats hearing and balance problems. They hold a Doctorate in Audiology or a Master’s/Doctoral degree from an accredited graduate program in audiology. Audiologists are also skilled in making deep ear impressions, which are necessary for creating custom in-ear monitors at RevoStage.

It’s important to note that all service fees are paid directly to the audiologist and cannot be charged to RevoStage.

Once I send my ear impressions to RevoStage, what happens to them?

Once your ear impressions are received by RevoStage, they are electronically filed and matched to your order before being properly disposed of. Since your ears can change over time, you may need new impressions every few years to ensure the perfect fit.

Is it possible to receive my impressions or 3D scans back after sending them to you?

Unfortunately, once the impressions have been scanned and trimmed, they become the property of RevoStage and cannot be returned.

If I have used impressions from another company, can I still send them to you for CIEMs?

RevoStage cannot use previously trimmed impressions from another company to make custom in-ear monitors.

What is the length of the canal for your custom in-ear monitors?

Our custom in-ear monitors feature a canal length that extends up to the second bend of the ear canal. We require impressions that go beyond the second bend to ensure an accurate fit without causing discomfort.

Which material is used to create your custom in-ear monitors?

Our custom in-ear monitor shells are made from a 3D-printed resin of hypoallergenic, durable, hard acrylic plastic.

Can I request custom artwork for my custom IEMs, and what format do you require for it?

RevoStage accepts high-quality PNG, JPG, or GIF files for custom artwork on IEM faceplates. PNG files with background removed (transparency layer) are recommended for best results. Please note that artwork cannot be uploaded for certain faceplates, as indicated in the Designer. File sizes must be under 2 MB. For the best experience, we recommend using Chrome, Safari, or Firefox web browsers with the custom artwork function. Custom artwork is an additional cost per side and can be uploaded in the Designer during checkout.

Is there a way to expedite the production of my custom in-ear monitors?

For an additional fee, RevoStage offers a rush build option that can be selected during checkout in the Designer. It’s important to note that rush processing is subject to availability and may not always be an option at the time of purchase.

Who is responsible for the cost of shipping for new products and services / repairs?

The customer is responsible for covering the cost of shipping for all new product shipments as well as for services, repairs, and ear impression shipments. However, we will cover the cost of shipping for products that receive in-warranty service.

Can I have someone else's RevoStage custom in-ear monitors remolded to fit me?

RevoStage can only remold custom in-ear monitors for their original owners. We do not offer remolding services for in-ear monitors made by other manufacturers. Please email [email protected] for more information about having your RevoStage CIEMs remolded. All service and repair work is now done at a flat fee, which varies depending on the model of IEM.

Can I send in my original RS2 IEMs for remolding?

Unfortunately, we no longer offer remakes of our RS2 IEMs. For available options, please contact [email protected].

Is it possible to add additional drivers to my IEMs, such as turning a 3-driver into a 5-driver?

Additional drivers cannot be added to existing IEMs. To have more drivers, you would need to purchase a new set.

If I have an issue with my earphones, where can I find troubleshooting assistance?

If you experience any issues with your IEMs, please contact [email protected] for troubleshooting assistance and next steps.

Can a local audiologist or different manufacturer service my IEMs?

RevoStage is the only authorized service provider for our IEMs. Any unauthorized service, repairs, or adjustments (including fit) will void your warranty and may require the product to be replaced, which is the customer’s responsibility. Please see our Terms and Conditions and Warranty pages for more information.

Which shipping service do you use for international orders?

For international orders, we typically use DHL International Priority, which generally takes 2-3 business days to most countries.

What is the warranty on my product?

Please see our Warranty page for more details.

What are your terms and conditions for purchasing and using your products?

Our Terms and Conditions page outlines the terms and conditions for purchasing and using our products.
